Papermaking and Cyanotype workshop at Visual in Carlow

I really enjoyed this papermaking class at Visual in Carlow with artist Mary Conroy. I found it therapeutic and a sound bunch of people to boot. Like you can see in the reel below, all you do is mix up old paper and water to make a paste then there’s a lot of swishing, buzzing and couching. Apparently, if you add seeds as the paper is drying, you can then plant them so that’s pretty cool.

After lunch, we had a cyanotype workshop with Kasia Kaminska. We used flowers and ferns and made tote bags but I was more interested in the idea of exposing photograph negatives. See reel below and more the follow.
