Printmaking with Tetra Pak plates
Spent a lovely morning printmaking using recycled Tetra Paks at Gorey Art Collective led by Sheila McNally and Elaine Tobin.
Using the waxed inside of the Tetra Pak, we etched our image using a drypoint needle, or you can use a nail. We then applied the intaglio ink using a toothbrush, and rubbed it into the grooves using a scrim (scrunched ball of muslin), before putting it through the press to see what emerged.
I love the marbled effect that comes out after scrunching the plate. I’ve been playing around with this method at home and think the outputs will look good in a collage. Here’s a reel of the morning’s activities.
